The Women Behind Boqaa
Behind every piece created by Boqaa are women whose hands carry generations of artistry, patience, and tradition. Their embroidery is more than craftsmanship, it is a language of memory, identity, and resilience passed down through generations.
Today, Boqaa proudly works with more than 70 women artisans from Al Baqaa’ Camp, Al Natheef Camp, and Azraq Camp, creating meaningful opportunities that help them build sustainable income and support their families through their craft. Each stitch reflects hours of dedication and care, transforming Palestinian heritage into contemporary pieces designed for modern everyday wear while preserving the beauty of traditional artistry.
Through Boqaa, these women continue to share stories woven into every thread, ensuring that Palestinian culture remains alive, visible, and carried forward for future generations.
What began as an idea in London in 2023 slowly grew into a journey rooted in heritage, craftsmanship, and community. Boqaa was created with a vision to bring Palestinian embroidery into contemporary fashion while creating meaningful opportunities for women artisans.
In July 2023, Boqaa launched its first collection, "Albedaya" a name that marked the beginning of a story inspired by culture, identity, and modern design.
Later that year, in December 2023, the journey continued in Jordan, where Boqaa began collaborating with five talented women artisans from Al Baqaa’ Camp. What started as a small initiative quickly grew into a thriving community of more than 40 women contributing to the embroidery and craftsmanship behind Boqaa pieces today.
With every collection, Boqaa continues to grow as a space where heritage is preserved, stories are stitched by hand, and traditional artistry finds a place in modern everyday life.
What Boqaa means
Boqaa takes its name from Al Baqaa’ Camp in Jordan, a place that holds generations of Palestinian stories, memories, resilience, and community. For us, the name represents far more than a location. It symbolizes belonging, identity, and the deep emotional connection between people and their heritage.The word “Boqaa” also carries a broader meaning “an area” or “a place.” This meaning reflects our vision for the brand: to carry Palestinian culture beyond borders and allow Boqaa to exist in every boqaa around the world. Through fashion, we hope to create spaces where heritage can be seen, shared, and celebrated globally.Inspired by traditional Palestinian artistry, Boqaa transforms embroidery into contemporary pieces designed for modern everyday life.
